Think Twice Before Investing in Expensive Printing Supplies

When my custom-made t-shirt business began to suffer financially, I wanted to begin handing out printed advertisements and having take-home t-shirt pricing materials printed to advertise my low prices that many people didn't know about. Although I had great supplies to print on t-shirts, they differ greatly from traditional printers. I was looking to invest in a good laser printer, but I came across an online advertisement for a printing service while I was browsing. I did some quick calculations, and I figured out that I could have a huge number of professional printed materials made several times each year for just a fraction of the investment price of that new printer I was looking into. I created this blog to share my experience with other business owners looking to save cash wherever they can. For me, I saved greatly by outsourcing printing of my promotional items.

The 1-2-3s Of Creating Salon Brochures That Stimulate Your Customers' Senses

If you own or manage a salon, then it is important to have outstanding brochures that customers can browse at your salon and take home to share with friends. Sure, your customers can tell their friends about your great salon services, but they may only share their own experience with the service they obtained and not the other wonderful treatments you offer. Here are some tips on how to create brochures that lead to you gaining new customers who may become your money-making regulars.

1. Use Design to Create an Experience

You don't want your brochure to be a boring list of your services and prices. You want to instead make your prime print marketing tool into an "experience" that makes your future-clients feel like they are already in your salon while browsing it. You also want your design to be so eye-catching that a person passing by when it is sitting on the table cannot help but look to see what is inside of that amazing booklet.

Tailor the design to mimic the reputation you want your salon to have and what sets your salon apart from others. Do you offer high-tech, cutting edge services? If so, then a black background with colored print can give customers a feeling of the sophisticated styles you specialize in. Do you want people to know they can look forward to a tranquil, eco-friendly experience at your salon? If that is more your style, then a green and beige color theme may be more for you.

To help inspire you, many printing services offer design templates that you can browse. Once you find a basic design you love, you can then adjust the color scheme and make other small changes until the final design feels right.

2. Choose the Right Paper

Opting for quality paper for your brochures is important, as your brochure will give many people their first impression of your entire business. If they see that you went for the thinnest, cheapest paper, then they may whether you also skimp on quality when it comes to the products you use during salon services. You also want to have your brochure printed on paper that is heavy enough that it can be tucked away in a drawer by a customer and then pulled out over and over without damaging it. However, paper that is too heavy can be difficult to stay folded.

Experts recommend brochure paper that is 170 to 300 GSM, which stands for grams per square meter. This weight is heavy enough to withstand wear and tear, yet light enough to fold properly and stay folded.

3. Consider Special Paper Finishes to Stimulate the Senses

If you think your only brochure paper finish choices are matte or glossy, then think again. Choosing a special finish to use on just a page or two of your brochure can stimulate the senses of your customers, just as you do in the salon. You can create texture with the following:

  • UV varnish, which creates a smooth, raised, glossy design
  • Foil stamping, which also creates a raised design that is instead metallic and textured
  • Embossing, which creates areas where the paper itself is raised

While special finishes are great to stimulate customers' senses as they browse your brochure, stick to just one or two, as using them too much throughout your entire brochure can be a bit overwhelming to the senses instead of providing the slight stimulation you seek.

Salon brochures are important to not only advertise your services and prices, but to also give future clients a "feel" of what your salon is like while they are browsing it.
